The great fashion houses of the world line the street of Rue Faubourg St-Honore.

Dreamy, extravagantly decorated windows give one a peek into haute-couture culture. Bask in the glamour, the luxury of it all, with a walk from one end of St-Honore to the other.

Named for Honoratus, the 7th Bishop of Amiens who died in 600AD, this street is historic, charming and classy. A visit to Hermes, at 24 Rue du Faubourg St. Honore is a treat.

Opened in 1837 by Thierry Hermes as a saddlery, the Hermes scarf is revered for its beautiful horse-inspired designs and beautiful use of color.

This is wearable French art that never goes out of style.

If you’re wondering what all the security is about, as you walk past 55 Rue Faubourg St-Honore, it is due to the fact that you are standing in front of the Palais de l’Elysee, the official residence of the President of the French Republic, constructed during the first quarter of the 18th century.

Fitting neatly into the splendour of the environs, is the patisserie/tea salon, Dalloyau at 101 Rue Faubourg St-Honore. Founded in 1802, the tradition of impeccably crafted pastries (try a macaroon) continues to impress.

Paris is a shopper’s paradise. Whatever your budget or style, expect to be tempted by treasures wherever you go. Fact is, Paris is obsessed with providing us with beautiful objects of every nature, from food to shoes and beyond. To walk is basically to shop, as each neighborhood displays its wares in irresistible fashion. Streets are lined with sweet boutiques. What was designed to be a brisk walk, becomes a slow prowl through the lovely shops. When you least expect it, you find yourself standing in front of the shoe store of your dreams, or a window display of really funky jewelry that has your name written all over it. It just happens, nothing you can do, except keep on walking.

So, the question, “Is it easy to shop in Paris?” has a definitive answer, which is also a question. “Is it easy to find water in a lake?” There are many unique shopping destinations, certain to please and even more certain to challenge your budget.
