The bar at the Hotel Costes is all about tufted sofas, velvet fringed armchairs, and corners for cozying up, and it attracts a rather decadent crowd.
It’s a room Napoleon lll would have loved. It’s sensuous, kitch and no doubt, the smarter you dress, the better service you will receive. Are you “someone”? If not, don’t be disappointed with the reception. Don’t come at prime time cocktail hour ‘cause the wait for a table will be discouraging. Do come to sink into the bordello-like setting and practice voyeurism.

Hotels are not just for sleeping anymore. Some of the world’s coolest bars are sequestered away behind glitzy addresses. Paris has its share of extraordinary drinks served in extraordinary settings.
