The Englishwoman for whom the Rose bakery/restaurant is named, is married to a Frenchman, Jean-Charles, and together they have built up quite a reputation for themselves.
Here, at any given lunch hour you might find yourself waxing ecstatic over carrot cake(?) while Rosa Jackson (cookbook author, Edible-Paris blogger) oohs and ahhs over the daily assortment of salads, at a nearby table.

First time there takes a little getting used to. The space itself was once used as a cartil, or storeroom where street market vendors placed their carts overnight. It's about as different as can be, from the century-old bistro you had lunch in yesterday. But don't let that throw you off. If it feels stark and a bit off-putting, get over it, and you will as soon as you set eyes upon the food. Daily vegetable and grain salads, composed of organic, locally produced ingredients, the famous square savory tarts, risotto, heart-warming soups for a chilly autumn day all look tempting. Then there is dessert. For those among us who once believed that carrot cake is more like a semi-edible sponge, than a dessert, taste this!
