The Northwest region of France, called Brittany, is famous for its creperies.

The thin and delicate pancake-like batter, which gets cooked on a griddle and then filled with yummy things, can be found all over Paris.

The traditionally prepared crepe is made with buckwheat flour (ble noir) and can be had as a meal, or a dessert.

Savoury crepes, called galettes, might contain cheeses, eggs, ham, mushrooms and other hearty ingredients.

Sweet dessert crepes can be simple or complex. Sometimes they are eaten with just a dusting of powdered sugar on top. Or they can be filled with strawberries and cream. Crepes with Nutella and fruit are very popular.

You can find crepe vendors in the parks.

There are so many take-out creperies on the street.

You will also see them on the menu in very fine restaurants. Basically, it's safe to say that the crepe has a secure foothold in the fabric of city life.

Think of it as the "fast food" of Paris.

Apple cider is a typical accompaniment or "lait ribot" (pronounced lay-reebow), which is a bubbly fermented milk beverage, which tastes like a sparkling, drinkable yogurt.

Really, it's good.
