Papered walls and 18th century period furniture provide for an intimate and genteel atmosphere at this lovely hotel with only 18 rooms.

After a day of prowling around Paris, the gracious two-hundred-year-old ambiance is warm and welcoming. The author, Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (1732-1799) lived up the street. Beaumarchais was an inventor, a spy, a revolutionary, a musician, and writer, remembered for being the author of The Marriage of Figaro. His invention of a watch mounted on a ring, made for Madame de Pompadour, mistress of Louis XV, was ingenious enough to be recognized by the Academie des Sciences. First editions of his work adorn the shelves.

Step outside the hotel, onto the very hip rue Vielle-du-Temple and explore the nooks and crannies of the Marais.
